Mine XBT on DxPool with a DATUM Gateway
Updated: 2026-11-05
This guide explains how to connect compatible BLAKE2b miners to DxPool through your own DATUM Gateway. The gateway gets block templates from your node over RPC and distributes work to your miners. If you prefer not to run your own, you can connect directly to the DxPool public gateway (see section 3).
Before you start
- Use compatible BLAKE2b miners; SHA256d Bitcoin miners cannot mine XBT.
- Prepare a Linux server that can run continuously. Download FxWallet to generate a wallet address for receiving your mining payouts; XBT addresses use the same format as Bitcoin mainnet addresses.
- The node needs a fast disk, enough storage and bandwidth.
1. Set up the Bitcoin Knots node
The node must be Bitcoin Knots 29.4.2 or later with XBT support. On Ubuntu:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:luke-jr/bitcoinknots
sudo apt install bitcoind psmisc
Add the following to the node's configuration file ~/.bitcoin/bitcoin.conf:
server=1
rpcuser=datum
rpcpassword=choose-a-strong-password
maxmempool=1000
blockmaxweight=785000
blocknotify=killall -USR1 ratum-gateway
prune=10000
Restart the node and wait until it is fully synced before continuing.
2. Install and configure the gateway
XBT requires the RATUM Gateway; the original datum_gateway does not support XBT.
Build
sudo apt install build-essential git curl
curl --proto '=https' --tlsv1.2 -sSf https://sh.rustup.rs | sh
source "$HOME/.cargo/env"
git clone https://github.com/iohzrd/ratum.git
cd ratum
git checkout cffaf47
cargo build --release -p ratum-gateway
Use the version shown above. The built program is target/release/ratum-gateway.
Configure
Create gateway.json:
{
"bitcoind": {
"rpcuser": "datum",
"rpcpassword": "the same password as in bitcoin.conf",
"rpcurl": "http://127.0.0.1:8332"
},
"stratum": {
"listen_port": 23334,
"require_address_username": true
},
"mining": {
"pool_address": "your XBT payout address"
},
"api": {
"admin_password": "choose a strong password",
"listen_port": 7152
},
"datum": {
"pool_host": "xbt.datum.dxpool.com",
"pool_port": 28915,
"pool_pubkey": "13dceb1f532408e88661e613c017e88becf0f0e0f3c06fcbb457b49a5033fe427326610133e943af4d3d0fd083a5b18c93f4364c26e3d71472cfe7dbf0ee5514"
}
}
Leave all options not listed here at their defaults. Put only the host name in pool_host and the port in pool_port.
Security: run chmod 600 gateway.json, and do not expose ports 7152 and 23334 to the internet.
